The USA’s Chetna Reddy Pagydyala scored 136 (Not Out) in 152 balls in the One-Day International series final match against Zimbabwe. Her performance broke three cricket barriers–the first centurion by a USA woman, the USA’s highest individual score in a Women’s ODI, and the highest individual score for any woman in their ODI debut.
In this ODI series, USA–W toured Zimbabwe from 17 to 28 October 2024, and the matches were played at the Harare Sports Club. In the first ODI, ZIM – W won by five wickets, with USA – W scoring 152 in 43.5 overs. In the second ODI, USA – W scored 248, but ZIM – W emerged victorious by six wickets.
USA–W then performed well in the third ODI and thrashed ZIM–W by four wickets. Geetika Kodali performed well, picking up five wickets in her ten overs. In the fourth ODI, ZIM–W won by the DLS method, and USA–W emerged victorious in the final match.
Zimbabwe captain Josephine Nkomo was awarded the Player of the Series for taking seven wickets and scoring 150 runs in this series.
Although USA–W lost the series 3–2, Pagydyala’s performance gained much praise among cricketing fans. She was awarded Player of the Match for her brilliant batting performance, creating new hope for USA–W. The fact that Chetna Reddy Pagydyala is only 16 years old makes her accomplishments especially significant.
In the ICC World Ranking in Women’s ODIAs (as of October 29, 2024), Zimbabwe ranks #14 with the USA #15, with 243 and 103 points, respectively.
