The Falcons played well enough to win, but (as it always seems) the Chiefs did just enough to avoid an “L.”

The Kansas City Chiefs completed their third win in three by edging out the Atlanta Falcons 22-17. Patrick Mahomes recovered from an interception before completing two touchdown passes to complete a narrow victory at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Andy Reid’s side is looking to clinch a third successive Super Bowl, having beaten the San Francisco 49ers and the Philadelphia Eagles before that. While the head coach will be pleased with a 100% start to the season, the team has yet to hit its full stride.

If you want to wager on the Chiefs to become the first team in the modern Super Bowl era to win three straight titles, visiting the CBS online sports betting service would be the ideal way to secure the best potential payout.

They say that the sign of a great team is the ability to win even when you are not playing at your best, and that’s most definitely how the Chiefs have looked thus far in 2024. They are 3-0 but are still in first gear, and that’s a significant ‘problem’ for coach Andy Reid to have. Indeed, had Kirk Cousins been more consistent, the Falcons could have picked up a win.

Still, Reid’s side ground it out to collect yet another victory and have plenty to look forward to as they prepare to face the Los Angeles Chargers on the road before entertaining the New Orleans Saints at Arrowhead.

Mahomes feels there is a lot more to come from his team, and given their recent record, who could blame him? “It helps when you have a defense that’s been in those moments before and can make those big plays.” “It’s a team game, and we’re winning games, and I feel like we’re gonna start getting better every week,” Mahomes added.

After the victory, Reid praised his opposite number, Atlanta Falcons head coach Raheem Morris, who took over ahead of the current campaign. “My hat goes off to Raheem, being a new coach here; the Atlanta Falcons are in great hands. “They played hard, aggressive, good football on both sides of the ball,” he added. On the other hand, Morris was also pleased with his side’s fight, albeit with a defeat coming nonetheless.

Raheem Morris: I was in four-down territory for a while there. We were going out there to win this football game. We didn’t come here to tie. We didn’t come here to lose. We didn’t come here to hope we win. We didn’t come here to allow Patrick Mahomes to work his magic. We came here to win the football game on our terms, and I lost it, so I’ll take that medicine all day.

Atlanta moved to 1-2 but arguably could have just as easily been 3-0, with the Falcons losing by narrow margins to the Chiefs and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Morris was brought in after the Falcons fired Arthur Smith following last season’s 7-10 regular-season record. The team lost four of its last five games, blowing hopes for postseason action.
