The NHL’s Stanley Cup Ended Up at a Strip Club?

,

Today, there are rules. Then there weren’t.

It’s hard to get away with misbehaving now. In today’s time, everything is recorded, and everyone has a camera on their phone. On the Vice channel, there’s a series called Dark Side of The 90s. I was born in the ’80s, but I am a kid of the ’90s. They have exciting stories. I watched an episode on Scores Cabaret, a strip club in New York. It was a place for excess and celebrities to visit frequently.

It was the 1994 Stanley Cup Finals, the New York Rangers vs. the Vancouver Canucks. The Rangers would win the Stanley Cup in seven games, and the celebration was alive and well in the Big Apple. The drinks flowed in every bar, and many Rangers ended up at Scores Cabaret with the Stanley Cup. The Cabaret had a tradition of having several dancers on stage and doing a dance called “Parade.” On this night, the Stanley Cup was the featured guest, a prop for the strippers to dance with and carry around.

Oh, no! In 1995, the NHL made rules about what you could and couldn’t do with the Cup. They now have the “Keeper of the Cup.” It can be transferred from player to player, but it must return to the keeper.

Lord Stanley, your Cup is now secure.
