With only one winning season since 2014, it makes sense to question this year’s football team. So, what can we expect from the 5-0 Orange?
Enough games have been played this season to make reasonable assessments of College Football 2022. And in my book, the undefeated and 18th-ranked Syracuse Orange is legit.
I especially like the offense. The Orange averages 440 yards of total offense per game with 21 touchdowns. Quarterback Garrett Shrader leads the Orange with 1,224 passing yards, ten touchdowns, and five rushing touchdowns, and his five TDs on the ground are tied for first with running back and leading rusher Sean Tucker. Tucker, one of the nation’s top five running backs (ESPN), has rushed for 546 yards on 110 carries for a five-yard per-carry average, with 184 yards on 19 receptions and one touchdown. Oronde Gadsen II leads the receiving corps with 23 catches, 366 yards receiving, and three touchdowns.
Next up, Syracuse hosts the 15th-ranked North Carolina State Wolfpack this Saturday on the ACC Network. Gametime is 3:30 pm in the JMA Wireless Dome.
Prediction: Orange 31, Wolfpack 30
