BACKGROUND

The Eagles and the Giants will clash heads on Sunday when the rivalry of the NFC East is renewed. While neither of these teams have gotten over 10 wins in the last 4 seasons, NYG and PHI are actually a couple of the most consistent things that the NFL has seen in the last decade. But let’s look at 2014, Chip Kelly and his 4-1 Eagles have looked very impressive coming out of the gates this season after beating Andrew Luck and the red-hot Colts in week 2. But Tom Coughlin’s looking pretty confident these days as well after beating the underrated Texans and the new and improved Falcons. The NFC East appears extremely competitive in 2014 after watching the Cowboys win 4 straight without skipping a beat, and not to mention; the redskins’ 1st round pick in Robert Griffin III is returning from injury soon to make Washington competitive once again. Will the NFC East become the dominant division it once was with the resurgence of these two big-shots? Or will they fall back, struggling to become playoff contenders once again?

WHY THE PHILADELPHIA EAGLES WILL WIN

Nick Foles: Who doesn’t love the guy? Just last year, Nick was playing water-boy on the side-lines for Michael Vick and the other 2013 starters. 33 touchdowns, 4,064 yards, and just 6 interceptions later, Nick Foles is back under the lights forSunday Night Football. After Jon Beason went down with a foot injury earlier this season, the Giants have lost a bit of firepower in the linebacker area, possibly giving Lesean McCoy the holes he needs to break out this season. In addition, Lane Johnson, a solid offensive tackle in Philadelphia has recently returned which could finally give McCoy and Sproles the line they have been waiting for. Not to mention, the Giants better be very careful of Nick alongside the emerging star in Jeremy Maclin, especially after watching their 6’ 2’’, monstrous cornerback in Dominic Rodgers-Cromartie go down with a leg injury in week 4. Although I don’t see the Eagles winning a defensive game playing with that horrendous pass defense, with Nick Foles behind the center, don’t be surprised if that Philly offense pulls off a big win.

WHY THE NEW YORK GIANTS WILL WIN

Eli Manning, Rashad Jennings, and Victor Cruz… that’s an argument right there. Apart from the first couple weeks of the season, the Giants have looked extremely impressive on the offensive side. Manning has really started to click with his receivers recently, after throwing just 3 touchdowns and 4 interceptions in his first 2 games, the Giants star has connected for 8 touchdowns and just 1 interception in his last 3 games. But you can’t give Manning all the credit, Rashad Jennings  has certainly made his contribution to the offense as well. The uprising running back talent has been obvious in New York lately as they have certainly improved their depth at the position after losing their experienced back in Ahmad Bradshaw during the 2012-2013 offseason. In general, New York has a solid offensive squad this year, and that may be all it takes this week to push them towards a win on Sunday night. You may be thinking about how inconsistent Eli is, or how many interceptions he throws. But against this pass defense? I like their chances.

MY PREDICTION: New York Giants def. Philadelphia Eagles 31 – 24
