It’s a tag-team bout, and here’s who’d be involved.
We are just one day away from the highly anticipated third round of the ‘trilogy fight’ between Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder. The first fight resulted in a draw, while fight two was a win for Fury via TKO, bringing the legend 30-0-1 in his boxing career.
And there’s another fighter in the Fury, family–little brother, Tommy–who has a 7-0 boxing record. Might Tommy be Jake Paul’s next opponent? There’s a very chance he will. Here’s why.
Soon after Jake Paul’s fourth win, “the Problem Child,’ as he is called, approached the younger Fury about a possible bout that would be held before the year ends. The offer was initially for $1 million in cash. Tommy declined the offer, saying that he’d “rather fight a ‘real boxer.'”
Paul doubled down in response, saying that he’d fork over an additional $500k if Tommy wins. But there’s a hitch. If Paul wins, Fury will have to change his name for a year to ” Tommy Fumbles.”
While I’d like to see that bout happen, what I’d really like to see is a tag-team, 8-round fight between the Fury’s (Tyson and Tommy) and the Paul’s (Jake and Logan).
That’s a dream for now, but Wilder vs Fury III is a reality on Saturday night via ESPN PPV.
