Dallas Wings Are Almost Impossible to Stop “If”

Series against the Minnesota Lynx tells why.

The Dallas Wings beat the Lynx last night, 95-77, showing (once again) that there isn’t a defensive scheme that can stop Arike Ogunbowale and Marina Mabry when both players are on. Ogunbowale is the league’s top-scoring guard (20.8 ppg), and Mabrey shares the league-lead in 3-pointers (34) with Ogunbowale and the Storm’s Sue Bird.

But not every outing goes the way the duo prefers.

In the first of back-to-back games against Minnesota (played last Thursday), Mawbry found rough going offensively with the basket capped and twisted tight–zero points on eight attempts and no assists. Ogunbowale would score her average but, without Mabrey contributing, the Lynx prevailed, 85-73.

It was a different story on Saturday, though. Mabrey went from zero points on Thursday to a season- and game-high 28 points. Ogunbowale contributed 16 points, six assists, and five rebounds, while Tyasha Harris added 13 points for good measure.

The big question is who will show up when the Wings go on the road Tuesday night to face the Connecticut Sun? Tip time is 7p at Mohegan Sun Arena.
