It gave me nightmares: “Silly rabbit! Trix are for kids!” In the end, though, it didn’t turn out that way.
In commercial-land TV, Rabbit tries to get his favorite breakfast cereal, Trix, in various creative ways. He always fails, and kids taunt him, “Silly Rabbit! Trix are for kids!”
Undaunted, Rabbit keeps tying. In 1991, he came across a new way of getting what he wants.
The commercial opens with Rabbit moping on a bench. But he then sees there is a Tour de Trix bicycle race where the winner gets a silver bowl of Trix. He enters the race.
In the race, it doesn’t look good for Rabbit initially, but he has a secret weapon that eventually gets him the win–his long ears.
Philosophically, though, a big question remains: Should Rabbit get Trix? If so, it means that Trix aren’t just for kids. Thankfully, a big question like that applies only in commercial-land. Other issues are more pressing for the rest of us.
