Yes, Clevelanders, you heard me right. As painful as it is for me to say it (for I love the Brownies), we must forgive Art Modell. Here’s why.
Art wanted a new stadium, and he deserved a new stadium. In his first eight years as an NFL owner, the Browns were competitive and nabbed an NFL championship. My point: the Browns were competitive.

Now compare the Browns today with the Browns then. New owner Jimmy Haslam hasn’t lodged even one 8-8 season. Since Baker Mayfield came to Cleveland, he has played for four head coaches and different four offensive coordinators.
Jimmy has that new stadium Art never got. Art won consistently. Jimmy hasn’t. The question is whether he ever will.
Attitude reflects leadership I heard once. So, come on, Clevelanders, we know what a bad owner is. We know what a good one is, too.
Wouldn’t we all jump for joy to get Art back? That’s why I’ve forgiven Art Modell, and it’s why you should, too.
