Complicated guy, complex life.

New York Times

Marion “Suge” Knight is well known for starting up the careers of Dr. Dre, Tupac Shakur, Snoop Dogg, Vanilla Ice, Nate Dogg, Easy-E, and MC Hammer. He signed them to contracts with Death Row Records.

Suge is not only a music executive. He’s also a convicted felon serving time in prison. And what many people don’t know about Suge is that he was also a very good football player.

A high school star, Suge played junior college ball and, then, major college ball at UNLV. He topped his football career by playing several NFL games. That was in 1987 as a replacement player for the Rams when contract players were on strike.

That’s all in the past, of course. Knight has had all kinds of anger management issues that got expressed in rage-type behaviors. In one instance, Suge used his car as a battering ram against guys with whom he had a conflict.

Here’s a documentary about his life.

I was born in Kingston, New York, the second child of Monika Keiper and Matthew McElwain. At age two, I was diagnosed with autism, and I’m currently undergoing therapy to help me have a good life. I have multiple interests, including music and writing. I started writing seriously at the age of 13 by writing poems on Allpoetry.com, earning a nomination for Best Teen Poet. In high school, I went on to write scripts, articles, and stories. Now in college, my ultimate goal is to make the world a better place.
