#SavePinoyFutbol has emerged on Facebook to rally support for improving the sport.
Stallion Laguna FC Coach Ernest Nierras urges football enthusiasts to be part of the football solution in The Philippines. #SavePinoyFutbol hashtag has surfaced on Facebook.
According to Ced Seredrica, #SavePinoyFutbol is about problems that Philippines football is facing, including mismanagement of the PFF, the state of the Philippines Football League, and an inefficiently run grassroots football program.
“There are legitimate problems in the PFF and Philippine football in general,” Nierras said.
“Let’s try to be part of the solution,” Nierras went on to say. “It really doesn’t matter who you know. What matters is what you are willing to do.”
To be fair, significant progress is being made if you look at the number of kids who play and embrace the sport in this country. But it’s also true there are problems, one in particular: national youth development teams are underperforming in international competition.
The success of the PFF, alone, is not enough. That’s why I agree with Nierras. Let’s be part of a comprehensive solution.
