I’m getting one of my feelings that something’s getting ready to go seriously south for RG3 and the Burgundy and Gold. With two games to play, large numbers of misguided experts and pinhead pundits are already lining up the awards for RG3, including Rookie of the Year, All Pro, MVP and Prototypical Quarterback of the Future! Talk about Hype, this after only 13 NFL starts. Huh? I’ve seen this movie before. Starred the now pathetically broken Michael Vick, didn’t it? Meanwhile fellow rookies, Andrew Luck and Russell Wilson have led Indy and Seattle to better records, both are 9-5 and they both have played every down. Superman socks, marketability and flash won him the Heisman over Luck and Wilson, so why shouldn’t that propel him over established stars like Tom Brady and Peyton Manning for NFL Honors? Please everyone, get a grip!
A season ending knee injury in 2009 at Baylor, two concussions in the last calendar year, x-rayed for broken ribs and a knee injury in week 13 that’s still a factor and you have RG3’s recent medical history. That is if you believe everything Head Coach and Minister of Medical Disinformation, Mike Shanahan says. Injuries aside, is the coronation of RG3 and Wasington a “fait accompli” considering that NFC East Rivals, the Eagles and Cowboys play the role of party crashers and spoilers? It’s not likely that owners Jeffrey Lurie and Jerry Jones are looking forward to crouching down and congratulating the diminutive Dan Snyder.
Philly at home, getting seven points is a serious play. A trip to the City of Brotherly Love always leaves me with the thought “What the hell am I doing here and how fast can I get the hell outa here?”. Making the trip there to play the Eagles and be exposed to the miserable fans who boo Santa, must make the trip especially nasty. I suppose I’d be angry too if I woke up in a dying city like Philadelphia, where the heights of a cultural experience involves a stale roll, tasteless paper thin “steak”, cheeze whiz and smelly onions. What a nightmare!
If Son of Shanahan Kyle, calls a conservative offensive game to protect his “call him maybe” Superstar RG3, Philly could hang around and outright win this game. Washington needs to hit the Eagles early, hit them hard and Reid and Company will hit the canvas hard, face down, counted out. Allowing Philly to stay close might let the Eagles benefit from a late, game turning, fluke play and steal the big present from under DC’s tree.
RG3 is a decent, honorable human being and a great NFL “Feel Good” story but its all about how good RG3’s knee feels after Sundays game in Philly that’ll matter. A win helps a club cure all sorts of boo boo’s week to week and a win at Lincoln Financial Field will help return the spring to RG3’s step. Incredibly though, to the delight of the mean spirited, sour, undeserving Eagle fans, Philly plays the Grinch, covers the seven and leaves Washington with coal in their stocking’s for Christmas.
Here’s hoping your seasonal feelings are dead wrong.Redskin fans now at least have hope & something for the future W/ RG3 at the helm(barring major injury). As far as Rookie of the Year,All Pro,MVP & all that stuff,a skins fan should care less.Right now we are looking at the next 10-15 years(which looks great). In terms of only 1 more win for both the COLTS & SEAHAWKS,looking at the COLTS it appears they have only beaten 1 team that will make the playoffs. The SKINS didn’t play teams like K.C-JACKSONVILLE-BUFFALO-MIAMI-DETROIT-TENNESSEE & the GANGRENE N.Y.JETS.You nailed it when you called RG3 a decent, honorable human being, but you fell short of calling him electric for the city that needs him so despartely.RG3 is true BOX OFFICE with gobs of talent.Regardless of these last 2 games, REDSKINS fans should jump for joy.IN RG3 WE TRUST.HTTR—–
Well Marcus from CP, you were partially right as Philly hung around all day long…too long. But I am still scratching my head as to why the Skins felt the need to play a quarterback who is hampered by his injury is nuts! You can bet the Cowboys defense will put pressure on RG3 all day long. Unlike Haslett. The soft defense will kill them. Go after the QB when it’s 3 and long. It’s not that I don’t want the Skins to win, however every week they continue to make it harder than it has to be. In the end, in my book, it will come down to the Skins Savior, #2, Kai Forbath, to take the game and the NFC East Division.
