NFL Fantasy Pain: Replacing Arian Foster

Storyline: Did you draft Arian Foster on your Fantasy team? If so, don’t get sad now that he’s injured. Get Blue. That’s Alfred Blue of the Texans.

Did you draft Arian Foster … just to find out that in the first practice with pads he tears his groin? I’m sorry to hear that, but don’t get sad. Get Blue. Alfred Blue.

Last year this RB showed some promise last year and he may be the answer to having a weak RB line-up.

Blue gained my trust when I was in a Fantasy bind. I plugged-in Blue at the last minute when Foster was out. Blue played Cleveland that game and was able to put up 150 rushing yards on 36 attempts. I know … its Cleveland, but the Texans trusted Blue enough to feed him an absurd number of carries. Blue only had three games with 15 or more carries last year, but he was able to average 80.3 yards in those games.

But a few concerns come with adding Blue to your line-up. He can’t seem to get himself into the End Zone. I have a hard time figuring out how a guy can get 150 yards in a game and still have 0 TDs. In the three games with 15 or more carries Blue only had 1 TD–total.

Sadly, we can’t pick-up JJ Watt, who has finished the job on several occasions. The Texans know that Blue is an issue so they’re looking at players like Pierre Thomas. This may turn into a team that feeds Blue the rushes, serves Thomas the backfield passes, and finishes the goal line with Thomas.

Blue is a great add to acquire yards and, hopefully, he’ll get more chances to prove he can find the End Zone. Ultimately Blue should be added to make up for Foster or burn the person who drafted him.

Keep in mind that Blue will get a chance, but I guarantee that someone else will be given reps behind Blue. A big-name guy, like Pierre Thomas, may be too much pressure for Blue to handle, but it’ll be Fantasy gold. This could turn out to be a Fred Jackson/C.J. Spiller combination in Buffalo, where you’re trying to do the Fantasy math if the amount of yards Spiller gets equals the amount Jackson will make in the End Zone.

*Grab Alfred Blue ASAP, but you’ll have to watch closely to see if somebody is stealing your six-point payday.
