Storyline: Consider three WRs when you’re putting together your 2015 NFL Fantasy Team: Martavis Bryant, Mike Wallace, and Golden Tate
Here are three NFL players who may have been forgotten since the end of last season. They all have upside and could fill bye-week voids, create match-up problems, and replace injured players.
Martavis Bryant (Steelers): Bryant has not been given much respect in most of the mock drafts in which I have participated. I’ve seen him go at round 10 or not even be drafted. It’s hard not to like a guy like Martavis, who (as a rookie) took the second WR spot behind Antonio Brown.
Numbers I like from 2014:
8 Touchdowns in 10 games
30.77% of his reception were touchdowns
0 fumbles
Averaged 10.4 fantasy points per game.
Mike Wallace (Vikings): No one seems to like Mike Wallace in mock drafts. He was inconsistent last year. But I think that will change now that Greg Jennings is with the Dolphins and Mike Wallace has gone to the Vikings. Wallace wasn’t able to streak as much with the Dolphins and that will change with the Vikings. And there’s Adrian Peterson, a guy who’ll take a lot of pressure off Bridgewater and give Wallace a chance to get open.
Numbers I like from 2014:
Played all 16 games
10 touchdowns
25.64% of Dolphins total offensive touchdowns
Averaged 9.2 fantasy points per game.
Golden Tate (Lions): Tate appeared to be an afterthought in this year’s draft. People seem to only pick him up when they realize (late in the draft) that their WR depth is lacking and Tate is the only quality WR remaining. But Tate produced last year, collecting a total of 1,331 yards in 2014. It’s a good bet that Calvin Johnson will struggle with injuries sometime during the year. If so, Tate’s value will increase.
Numbers I like from 2014:
Was targeted 142 times
1331 receiving yards
Calvin Johnson missed 3 games and fought injuries most of the season
Averaged 10 fantasy points per game.
(Note: Standard 10-man mock drafts were used.)
