Celtics Knock Off 76ers in Wire-to-Wire Win, 123-105

Thursday’s win sets up a high-profile clash on Saturday night between Boston and the rejuvenated Lakers.

The Celtics were without Jaylen Brown, Jrue Holiday, Kristaps Porzingis, Al Horford, and Sam Hauser. With just 19 games left, it’s safe to say coach Mazulla is taking extra precautions with his players, especially on back-to-backs.

The game was an excellent opportunity for the young guys to step up, and that’s precisely what they did. Rookie Baylor Scheierman played his best game as a professional with 15 points, three rebounds, three assists, and great hustle in 29 minutes off the bench. Jordan Walsh, Neemias Queta, Luke Kornet, and Torrey Craig all played with high energy throughout the game. Jayson Tatum led the way for Boston with 35 points in just 31 minutes.

The Celtics have a big game on Saturday against their longtime rival, the Los Angeles Lakers. The red-hot Lakers have won eight consecutive games and are 17-3 in their last 20. The Celtics should be fully rested and healthy for this game.

LA at Boston, 8:30p on ABC.
