2026, the year of America’s 250th birthday, will be here before we know it. It will also be a great year for sports, especially in Philadelphia, with significant sports events on tap, including NCAA tournament basketball, the PGA Championship, the FIFA World Cup, and the MLB All-Star Game.

We’ll start with the NCAA Basketball Tournament, which many know as “March Madness.” In 2026, the first and second rounds will be held at Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center from March 20 through 22.

The PGA Championship will be held in May 2026 at the Aronimink Golf Club in Newton, Pennsylvania, thirty minutes outside Philadelphia. Founded in 1896, the club has also hosted the 1962 PGA Champions, the Senior PGA Champions, and the Women’s PGA Championship.

Multiple U.S. cities will host the FIFA World Cup in Summer 2026, and Philadelphia will be one of the U.S. host cities. Six games will be played at Lincoln Financial Field, home of the Philadelphia Eagles. The games will be held from June 14 to July 4, 2026.

The fourth and final big sporting event in 2026 is the MLB All-Star Game, which will be held at Citizens Bank Park, home of the Philadelphia Phillies. The event will include the Home Run Derby on July 13, the day before the All-Star Game. It will be the first time the All-Star Game will held at Citizens Bank Park. Veterans Stadium, the former home of the Phillies and Eagles, hosted it in 1976, America’s Bicentennial year, and in 1996, America’s 220th Birthday year.

So, 2026 will be a big year in the sports world, especially in Philadelphia, the City of Brotherly Love.
