IRVING, Texas [Aug. 14, 2024] – The National Football Foundation (NFF) is proud to announce the launch of “I Played,” a new initiative celebrating the life lessons and lasting values imparted by football. This campaign aims to foster camaraderie among former players by encouraging them to share their personal stories and experiences on NFF platforms.

As part of this initiative, the NFF has developed an online form to gather information and build a comprehensive database of former players willing to serve as ambassadors for the game. This platform welcomes anyone who has ever played football, regardless of gender or level of play.

Participants are invited to share how playing football has influenced their lives, emphasizing values like discipline, teamwork, and resilience. These narratives will be featured on NFF’s social media channels and other digital properties, promoting a sense of community among football enthusiasts.

Steve Hatchell, president & CEO of the National Football Foundation & College Football Hall of Fame: Football has always been a cornerstone of our society, uniting people and teaching shared values. The game imparts invaluable lessons beyond the field, shaping character, fostering a spirit of perseverance, and preparing individuals for the various challenges they will face. It teaches us about leadership, hard work’s importance, and collaboration’s power. The skills and values learned through football contribute significantly to personal and professional success.

The NFF will maintain connections with the database of former players, showcasing their stories and videos on social media to highlight football’s diverse and significant impact on individuals and communities nationwide. The “I Played” campaign not only celebrates these personal accounts but also underscores the role of football in building lasting relationships and offering educational opportunities far beyond the gridiron.
