Max Battimo is best remembered as a child star. He first starred in a Disney Channel show called Good Morning, Miss Bliss, playing the role of Mikey Gonzalez, one of Miss Bliss’s students. Hayley Mills played Bliss.

But that show lasted 13 episodes before it was repackaged into the highly successful Saved by the Bell, which was telecast on NBC from 1989 to 1992. Unfortunately, Max’s character, Mikey, was not part of the deal, and he found work in independent films and television.

Interested in sports, he tried playing but then decided to devote his time to officiating, specifically ice hockey. Today, he’s a collegiate hockey referee.

It’s unclear whether Battimo, originally from Argentina, will transition to the NHL. But it’s still a fascinating story, how a child actor became an ice hockey referee.
