The WNBA Rookie of The Year race is heating up, and it’s a race between the Chicago Sky’s Angel Reese and the Indiana Fever’s Caitlin Clark. Who will come out on top?
Clark is averaging 16.1 points and 7.4 assists per game with a history-making triple-double, the first ever by a WNBA rookie. Reese has set records, too. She is the only rookie in WNBA history to average a double-double with 14.1 points and 11.9 rebounds per game.
Clark also has a record on the negative side of the ledger, namely, the record for the most turnovers made by a WNBA rookie. So, you could argue that Reese has the advantage, at least now. On the other hand, Caitlin Clark, a highly marketed player, is setting attendance records. Because of her, Fever games are nationally televised, and home games are being played at larger arenas.
The bottom line is that it’s a jump ball at this point. I look forward to seeing what Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark do in the second part of the season.
I definitely think it should be Clark. She is a better all around player. Thank you Matthew Paris for this article and bringing this info to light.
