Wrestler Gable Steveson will make the transition to NFL football.
Gable Steveson was one of the most dominant college wrestlers in NCAA history. He was named Big Ten Athlete of The Year (2022) at the University of Minnesota, where he added two national championships and two Dan Hodge trophies (college wrestling’s equivalent of football’s Heisman) to his resume.
After dominating the college circuit, he made the USA Olympic team and earned a gold medal at the Tokyo Summer Olympics. Afterward, Vince McMahon took notice, and Steveson signed a contract with World Wrestling Entertainment.
Now, Steveson is embarking on a new path in his career. He just signed a three-year contract with the NFL’s Buffalo Bills, and the surprising thing is that football is a new sport to him. Just as interesting is how Stevenson got to the NFL. One reason is that his agents, Dave Martin and Rich Chow of the MAG Agency, know NFL owners and introduced Steveson to the advantages of pursuing an NFL opportunity. The match seemed plausible, so that’s why a deal was struck.
— ””So, the big question is, what position will Steveson play? Will they use him on the defensive line? (I’m hearing rumors of that.) But no matter what position he plays, this is a story to follow, from training camp to pre-season games and onward, to see if Steveson makes the team and, if so, how much he plays and where.
This is an interesting article. I only saw a quick picture with a caption about it. I’m glad to get more of the story. Great job Matthew Paris and Thank you.
