Bolt was named in advance of the 2024 T20 Cricket World Cup.
Bolt’s name adds global prestige to the tournament. Over his illustrious career, he won eight Olympic and 23 overall gold medals. In return, Bolt promised to bring his “energy and enthusiasm to the World Cup.”
Cricket legends Chris Gayle (West Indies) and Yuvraj Singh (India) were also selected as ambassadors.
Gayle, whose international career spanned over 20 years (1999-2024), is regarded as “The Universe Boss.” He has a record of hitting 553 sixes in his international career, which is the second-highest in international cricket. Singh is an all-rounder known for striking and wicket-taking abilities. He is the first batsman in the world to hit six 6s in an over in the T20 format, which he achieved in the 2007 T20 Cricket World Cup against England.
This year, the T20 World Cup will be hosted in the U.S. and the Caribbean from June 01 – 29, 2024. It will be the first time 20 countries will participate, and there will be 55 matches.
