Jeffrey Tuley, known as “Whiplash,” is a hot name in MMA, #14 among the top 55 Illinois Amateur Bantamweight MMA athletes, #15 of 57 bantamweight fighters out of Iowa, and #121 in the top 476 Bantamweight MMA athletes in the Midwest.
Tuley’s rankings are especially noteworthy because Tuley has been diagnosed with a severe illness. I interviewed Tuley recently, and this is what he had to say.
McElwain: What is your advice for anyone wanting to get into boxing and MMA?
Tuley: It’s going to be tough, but stick with it.
McElwain: Where do you see yourself in the next thirty years?
Tuley: I will hopefully be retired with my own gym and a hell of a legacy.
McElwain: Describe boxing in one word.
Tuley: Boring. I’m just personally not a fan of watching boxing. Another word I would use would be slugfest.
McElwain: Describe MMA in one word.
Tuley: Violence.
McElwain: What are your career goals?
Tuley: I want to be a UFC champ and to be known as one of the best ever to do it. I would also like to motivate people like me with a terminal illness.
McElwain: What’s your opinion on Jake Paul?
Tuley: Oh, he’s a scumbag! Boxing may be in the gutter because people like Jake Paul make the sport look bad.
McElwain: Who is your dream opponent?
Tuley: I would love to fight Sean O’Malley.
McElwain: Finally, where do you see MMA going in thirty years?
Tuley: I see MMA as one of the world’s biggest sports.
