The Louisville Cardinals will look to improve on last season’s 8-5 (4-4 Atlantic Division) record when they face the Georgia Tech Yellowjackets (5-7, 4-4, Coastal Division).
The teams last met in 2020, when Tech routed the 46-27 Cards. It was an unusual game because Louisville won many of the stat battles, including rushing (242) total yards, (271), and time of possession (36:38).
The Cardinals will likely start Brock Domann at quarterback. Domann passed for 998 yards and four touchdowns last year and rushed for sixty-four yards and one touchdown. He did that by backing up Malik Cunningham, who is now in the NFL with the New England Patriots.
Supporting Domann in the backfield will be running back Jawhar Jordan, who returns for his junior season with an 815-yard, four-touchdown campaign under his belt with a 5.7 yards per rush average. Leading receiver Tyler Hudson (1,034 yds. 2 TDs) signed with the Los Angeles Rams, which means Ahmari Huggins-Bruce (365 yds., 2 TDs) will assume the receiving reins.
The 2023 AFLAC College Football Kickoff game will be a Friday night, September 1 contest, airing on ESPN from Atlanta’s Mercedes Benz Stadium.
