Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors shocked the Sacramento Kings, flipping a two-point halftime deficit into a twenty-point win.
The Warriors did not face a single elimination game in their championship run last year and have more than struggled on the road this regular season. However, on Sunday, they eliminated the Kings on the road. They played high-level postseason basketball led by Curry’s insane performance, which set the NBA playoff record for the most points scored in a Game 7. His final stat line was 50 points (20/38 on FGs), eight rebounds, six assists, and one steal. He also became the tenth player in NBA history to score 50+ in a series-clinching game.
Curry made seven three-pointers and now has the most made in NBA playoff history.
Although the Kings have been eliminated, their season was worthy of note, mainly because the team had not made the playoffs in 17 years, and the future looks promising. The Kings have a young superstar in De’Aaron Fox, who had 16 points, three rebounds, and six assists on Sunday. Domantas Sabonis put up 22 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists. Malik Monk had an excellent series and finished with 14 points, nine rebounds, and four assists.
The Warriors will face the Los Angeles Lakers in San Francisco at 10 P.M. PST tomorrow night. Curry’s postseason record against LeBron James is 15-7, and all eyes will be on those two superstars. It’s the first time the teams have faced off in the playoffs in 12 years.
Note: Eight seeds will be represented in the conference semifinals for the first time in NBA history.
