“She’s part of the Cougar family; we’re all here for her.”
A few years ago, Ashley Adamietz, diagnosed with leukemia, was also a cheerleader at her Palo Cedro, CA, high school. When her diagnosis went public, word spread fast at the school and throughout the Palo Cedro community.
In response, the school’s football team wanted to make a public stand to support Ashley, and they decided that spreading awareness of the disease was the way to go. So, all 57 football team members gave her an orange rose before a game. (Orange is the color to spread awareness.)
Ryan Caetano, who organized the tribute, said: “She’s part of the Cougar family, and we’re all here for her. I wanted to let it be known to everybody what she’s going through.”
An expression of public support, especially in a time like that, has a significant meaning. It says, “No matter what, you have our support.”
It’s something we can all do.
