The Claire Lomas Story

,

It’s an inspiring story of will, tenacity, and accomplishment.

In 2007, Claire Lomas went horseback riding. She loved to ride horses, but on this day, tragedy struck. Claire was thrown from a horse and paralyzed from the chest down.

Before the accident, Claire signed up for a half-marathon. It was September, and the race was five days later. Undeterred and with the help of a “robotic exoskeleton,” Claire participated by raising money for the Nicholls Spinal Injury Foundation.

Claire was also pregnant at the time. “It is very hard work physically and mentally, especially with my injury,” she said. “I had no core strength or feeling from the chest down. I couldn’t even feel the ground. Each slope, bump, and hill was a huge obstacle.”

But those were challenges, not reasons to quit. “When I take something on, I’m desperate to give it my all and complete it,” asserts Lomas.”

Claire Lomas is an inspiration. Her story tells us that we should never let anything bring us down. No barriers. No reason to change course.
