Bagwell will serve the club in a community outreach role.
Jeff Bagwell is an Astros legend, inducted into baseball’s Hall of Fame in 2017. I was lucky to see him play, growing up as I did in the Killer Bs Era of Bagwell, Biggio, and Berkman. It was fun going to the Astrodome and watching those players, especially Bagwell.
Bagwell is known as one of the greatest sluggers of all time. He hit 449 homers over 15 seasons with the Astros, was named a four-time All-Star, and won the Silver Slugger Award three times. He was the first Astro in history to be named Rookie of the Year (1991) and the first to garner the league’s MVP award (1994). And the accolades don’t stop there. Bagwell is the only first baseman in MLB history to record a 30-homer and 30-stolen base season, which he accomplished twice (1997, 1999).
After retiring, Bagwell served as a guest TV commentator for several Astros games, and he joined the AT&T SportsNet broadcast crew periodically during the 2022 season. In his new outreach executive role, Bagwell will make public appearances for the Astros and act as an ambassador for the organization.
Jeff Bagwell is family to Houston.
He definitely deserves all the accolades. Congratulations to Him.
