Health scare prompts life change.
Tony “Baba Tony” David became obsessed with tennis after suffering a heart attack in November 2018. While recovering, the 66-year-old Florida transplant from the Bedford-Stuyvesant section of Brooklyn watched a seemingly endless number of YouTube videos of this new sport in his life.
Tony David: After the heart attack, my physician wanted to put a pacemaker in my heart, but I didn’t want one, and I didn’t get one.
To this day, Davis is still puzzled, wondering how it is that he’s still going. A major motivation that keeps Baba Tony going is his love for kids.
