Nobody predicted that the Jags would be where they stand in Week 18, and the much-maligned Trevor Lawrence is a big reason boos have turned to cheers.
The Jacksonville Jaguars struggled in 2020-21 and 2021-22, and the team accumulated only four wins over those seasons. However, things are different this year. The Jags have won eight games, and if they beat the Titans today, the team will finish the season with a winning record for the first time since the 2017-18 season.
The turnaround has been spearheaded by Trevor Lawrence, now in his second NFL season, who has led the Jaguars to four straight wins going into the Titans’ game. It’s a far cry from how things went during his first season under center. Jacksonville went 3-14 and finished last in the AFC South.
But athletes (including myself) know that disappointment fuels the motivation to succeed, and Trevor Lawrence is an example. The formerly much-criticized QB has become one of the league’s best signal-callers.
The lesson is clear: if you want to succeed, you must persevere, no matter the endeavor. Trevor Lawrence’s story is testimony to what can happen if you believe in yourself, remain determined, and focus on succeeding.
