The 2023 World Baseball Classic will be played from March 8 through March 21.
The 2023 classic is the first competition since 2017 when the United States took home the title. The tournament was canceled in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This year, the field has been expanded from 16 to 20 teams, and they’ll play in four, five-team pools:
Pool A (Taichung, Taiwan): Chinese Taipei, Netherlands, Cuba, Italy, Panama
Pool B (Tokyo): Japan, South Korea, Australia, China, Czech Republic
Pool C (Phoenix): United States, Mexico, Colombia, Canada, Great Britain
Pool D (Miami): Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Dominican Republic, Israel, Nicaragua.

Team USA’s head coach is Mark DeRosa, current MLB Network studio analyst, who spent 15 years in the MLB before retiring in 2013. The team’s captain is Los Angeles’ outfielder Mike Trout, a ten-time all-star and three-time AL MVP.
