Conte’s Challenge at Tottenham? Consistent Play

, ,

We should know soon just how good this club will be.

On Wednesday, Tottenham Hotspur dismantled Crystal Palace 4-0 at Selhurst Park. Antonio Conte’s men looked energetic, hungry, and dominant. Ivan Perisic, Bryan Gil, and Harry Kane put in good displays in the bounceback effort after being handled 2-0 by Aston Villa.

But up-and-down efforts won’t do if Tottenham is to be a title contender. Currently, 10-3-5 (33 points and 5th in the table), only consistently good play will do.

It’s possible, too. Offensively, the club has no talent shortage and is well-equipped in both midfield and defense. Add veteran goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, and there is no reason, at least theoretically, why Spurs should finish outside the top four.

But, as they say, the proof is in the pudding. And next up is a league game in the renowned North London derby against fierce rival and first-place Arsenal. This clash should be an absolute thriller and could be a season-defining moment for Tottenham.
