Mithun Pranav participated in the Under-09 category at the 16th Asian Schools Chess Championship, held last week in Kalutara, Sri Lanka. Players from Bangladesh, India, Iran, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Maldives, Malaysia, Mongolia, Pakistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Sri Lanka competed in the event.
Mithun nabbed a silver medal, Classical format, scoring 7.5 out of 9 points. The win enabled Pranav to gain a Candidate Master (CM) title from FIDE. He also won team gold in Classical, Rapid, and Blitz formats in the Under 09 categories.
In 2019, Pranav achieved India’s Youngest Rapid Rated player at five years and four months.
