The best films become classics, legends. For instance, there’s Grease; It’s a Wonderful Life; and Flashdance. But, in sports, I think Rocky is the best. Here’s why.
For me, Rocky is more than a boxing film. It inspires people to not ever give up on any of their dreams. For instance, my dad used to sell encyclopedias, and he told me that he watched Rocky repeatedly, which led him to become the top seller in his field.
I can understand why the film had a motivational effect on people. The plot and film score are moving.

But, in truth, nobody was behind Sylvester Stallone when he sought to produce the film. It took time and persistence for him to get the support he needed to make the film a reality.
I remember the first time I saw Rocky. It was on Christmas Day 1985, and I found his speech unforgettable at the film’s end.
“I came here tonight and didn’t know what to expect. I saw many people hate me, and I didn’t know what to feel about that, so I guess they liked much nothin.’ During this fight, I’ve seen a lot of changes in the way you feel about me, and in the way I felt about you. In here, two guys were killing each other, but I guess that’s better than 20 million. I guess I’m trying to say that if I can change, and you can change, everybody can change!”
As I reflect on the film’s impact, I wish we had more women presidents because, if more women ruled, they would handle international conflicts better. Whenever they were angry at another country, they would stop talking to that country. Sadly, nuclear weapons exist; unfortunately, we are closer to nuclear war now than ever! Sadly, each country can’t mind its business and live peacefully. It is horrible that wars exist.
It is terrifying to think that nuclear weapons may destroy our planet. Life is so precious, and living in peace with all countries is vital. Rocky teaches that we should live in peace and that we can all change!
It also teaches us not to give up on whatever our dreams are! To me, Rocky is the best sports film ever made. It motivates you to win and be the best you can be.
