Match Made in Texas? Davis Mills and the Houston Texans

, ,

Could Mills be the future of the franchise?

The Houston Texans franchise has gone through many quarterbacks. David Carr was supposed to lead the franchise in the 2002 inaugural season. Since then, the Texans have gone through Brock Osweiler, TJ Yates, Case Keenum, Rex Grossman, Matt Schaub, etc. Now the Texans have a young quarterback named Davis Mills.

Mills had a rocky rookie season. He threw into traffic, fumbled snaps, and didn’t release the ball quickly enough. Mills did none of that on Sunday, and I saw flashes of a player who could develop into an outstanding quarterback. Mills’ stats for the game included 240 yards passing, two touchdowns, and no interceptions. He ended with a passer rating of 98.9.

Best stat yet: the Texans didn’t lose. Of course, they didn’t win either. But I’ll take the 20-all tie.

Mills could be the answer. I hope he is. With fingers crossed….
