Focus is on helping urban youth succeed in life.
Not too long ago, American rapper and songwriter Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson–better known to his fans as fifty–signed a multi-year deal with the Houston Texans franchise. Jackson, who moved to Houston a year ago, has been giving back to the community.
The Texans organization signed with Jackson’s Sire Spirits LLC, a marketing company that sells merchandise and hosts events around the greater Houston area. The Texans also inked a deal with Jackson’s G-Unity Foundation. The partnership is designed to help urban youth overcome obstacles and learn the skills that will help them win at the game of life.
One of the successes is the G-Unity Foundation, an educational intervention program piloted in the Houston Independent School District (HISD). that focuses on helping young people gain entrepreneurship skills.
How did the deal come to be? Last season, Jackson had the opportunity to enjoy several home games and meet Texans fans. He spent some time with the McNair family and told the family about the work he had been doing with the Houston community.
It should be a fun NFL season for the Texans and the partnership with the companies.
I laughed when I first saw the title of this article – 50 Cent signs with the Houston Texans. I thought to myself, this guy is worth $40 million why does he need to sign with the Texans? LOL! This is an excellent article! I did not know this about 50 Cent. He seems like a great guy! We need to see more of things like this, especially in today’s world. I hope more people can read this article. Awesome article Matthew Paris!
