Pickett made history last week.
Carson Pickett is an American soccer player who plays defender for the North Carolina Courage. Here she is and why she made history.
Pickett was born without an elbow, hand, and left forearm. Growing up, she loved playing sports, soccer especially. Her high school team, St. Johns Country Day School, won three state titles, and Pickett contributed to that excellence. In 2012, she was named Florida’s Gatorade Girls Soccer Player of the Year.
Pickett has represented the United States on the under-17 and under-23 national teams, and she played college soccer for the Florida State Seminoles. Later, she was drafted into pro soccer.
Last Tuesday, Pickett made her debut for the United States national team against Colombia, becoming the first player with a limb difference to play for the United States Women’s National Team.
Congratulations, Carson Pickett! She’s an inspiration, for sure.
What a great, heartwarming story! Thank you Matthew Paris for bringing this to light!
