Trio performs the feat.
It’s very rare to get a no-hitter. Most kids dream of it, especially doing it in the Majors.
On Saturday, Houston Astros pitcher Cristian Javier and relievers did it in the Bronx against the Bombers. Javier, Hector Neris, and Ryan Pressly combined for the first no-hitter against the New York Yankees in 19 years. Moreover, the Yankees have the best record in baseball right now.
Javier set career highs in the game with 13 strikeouts on 115 pitches over seven innings before Manager Dusty Baker pulled him from the game.
The pitchers with their catcher took a photo holding a baseball on the field after the game. Astros star pitcher Justin Verlander, who threw the team’s last no-hitter in 2019, was there to celebrate, too.
The Astros now have 14 no-hitters in their history, the most in the Majors since Houston began MLB play in 1962. Three of those have been combined efforts, which is also a record.
Congrats to the Astros for making history … again!
