Kayleigh Williamson’s Amazing Story

Kayleigh’s story is inspirational. “From the moment she was born,” her mother told the press, “I was told all the things she couldn’t do.”

Kayleigh Williamson has Down Syndrome, and for a long time, her lifestyle wasn’t good with a lot of fast food in her diet. Then, things changed. Kayleigh and her mom improved their diet and took up running to live a more healthy life.

Soon after that, Kayleigh decided to run the Austin (TX) Half Marathon–a race I know well as a participant. Kayleigh entered in 2017, running the 13.1-mile course in 6 hours and 22 minutes. The organizers waited for Kayleigh to cross the finish line, awarding her a medal.

It was a moment she’ll never forget.

Now 30 years old, Kayleigh has sustained a healthy lifestyle, having lost 80 pounds and expanding her interests and skills. She wrote a children’s book entitled It’s Cool To Be Me about her first half marathon experience.

Kayleigh kept running, too. Her goal was to run a full marathon, achieved just a week ago in Austin.

Congratulations, Kayleigh! She shows that the sky is the limit. Set a goal, and then go for it!
