Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park is Great Place to Watch College Baseball

, ,

It’s the home of Texas A&M University baseball.

The stadium was dedicated in 1978 and named after alumnus C.E. Pat Olsen, a 1923 graduate of Texas A&M and former Aggies baseball player. Today, it is named Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park. That’s because funding for major renovations done a decade ago came from various donors, most prominently Blue Bell Creameries, which is based in nearby Brenham.

The renovated ballpark includes expanded concessions, luxury suites, a new press box, club seating, expanded locker rooms, and office space. Seating plus standing room put the stadium capacity at 7000 — and more seating is on the way. The capacity increase to 8000 will help A&M compete for more NCAA Regional tournaments, something the Aggies have done five times in the past, the first in 1989.

But size isn’t the only plus for Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park. In 2004, Sports Illustrated’s “On Campus” ranked Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park as America’s #1 college baseball venue.

My nephew, Jack Paris, has committed to play for the Aggies, so you can bet that I’ll be watching plenty of games there, too. Go Aggies!
