Lowry, inarguably the greatest player in Raptors’ history, signed a 3-year contract with the Miami Heat. The Kyle Lowry Era in Toronto is over.
Kyle Lowry was the heart and soul of the 6ix for nine tremendous seasons. The highlight was winning the 2019 NBA championship.
Lowry found his game after a mediocre first season in 2012 and, then, never looked back. A six-time NBA All-Star, Lowry ranks 1st all-time in assists (4277), 3-pointers made (1518), and steals (873). He also ranks 2nd all-time in points (10,540) and games played, and he is 3rd in rebounds and 4th in field goals made.
Beloved by all, the end is bittersweet. With the shift in direction, the Raptors need a new captain and a new franchise face. Will steady Fred VanVleet take up the mantle? Or will Lowry’s exit call for a full-scale rebuild?
The Raptors have a young core of talent, but they need a superstar leader. K-Low will be a tough act to follow.
“We the North” wait in anticipation to see what the next chapter will bring.
