Competition is underway in Japan.
When most people think of skateboarding, they probably think of something that people do for fun. It’s an art form and a way to express oneself. But over the years, skateboarding has also become a competitive sport–thanks largely to Tony Hawk and the following he engendered–not just personally, but to the sport as well.
Skateboarding has evolved from backyard entertainment and performances you saw in the park to an Olympic sport. Skateboarding is one of four new sports added to the Olympic program.
Congrats to these Olympic athletes! This year’s events will be held at Ariake Urban Sports Park in Tokyo, Japan. Let’s see how well Team USA will do. There’s stiff competition, including the team from the host country, Japan. But also know that the USA’s Nyjah Huston is coming into The Olympics ranked #1 in the world.
