Defenseman Luke Hughes, who was selected 4th overall by the New Jersey Devils in the 2021 Draft, was mobbed by teammate and brother Jack, who was selected 1st overall in the 2019 Draft. And there’s more….
Also in attendance was the eldest brother Quinn, who was selected 7th overall in 2018 by the Vancouver Canucks. History was made because the Hughes boys are the first trio of brothers ever selected in the 1st round.
The sibling parade continued. The Blackhawks’ 62nd overall selection, Center Colton Dach, joins brother Kirby, who was 2019’s 3rd overall pick. Next, Caleb Jones and his brother, cornerstone defenseman Seth Jones, were acquired recently by the Blackhawks.
There’s a son-father duo, too. The Coyotes selected right-wing Josh Doan with the 37th overall pick. His father, franchise legend Shane Doan, is the team’s Chief Hockey Development Officer.
