The McJordan Special consisted of a Quarter Pounder with bacon, mustard, onions, custom BBQ sauce, a medium fry, and a medium drink.
Back in the 199o’s, Michael Jordan was on top of the world–in pro basketball and the commercial world. As the saying went, ‘Everybody wanted to be like Mike.” For good reason, too: Jordan was winning NBA Championships with the Chicago Bulls, and he released his iconic Air Jordan shoe with Nike. So it would’ve made sense for a meal to be named after him.
Jordan wasn’t alone. Another basketball great, Larry Bird, partnered with McDonald’s soon after for the Big 33 Meal, similar to the McJordan, but without mustard and custom BBQ sauce.
That was about thirty years ago–and the McJordan was available only in the Chicago area. Last September, McD’s revived the Special as The Travis Scott Meal in partnership with the rapper Travis Scott and distributed it all across the country.
Today, McD’s has the BTS Meal. It’s a 10-piece Chicken McNuggets, a Coke, medium Fries, and two exclusive sauces picked by BTS, namely, Sweet Chili sauce and Cajun.

Recently, I gave the BTS a try when I lunched at McD’s with my grandma. It was great! But I couldn’t help think about what it would have been like–years ago–digging into The McJordan Special.
