Brooklyn blew a 2-0 playoff series lead to the Bucks, eventually losing in seven games. Now it’s time to use the off-season productively. How? Make these three moves!
Sign Free Agent Isaiah Thomas. Before being cut by the Los Angeles Clippers, Isaiah Thomas averaged 12.2 points and 3.7 assists while shooting 41 percent from the 3-line and averaging 1.3 steals a game. When Kyrie Irving went down, the Nets lacked anyone who could lighten the load for Kevin Durant, who put up 40+ points to keep the playoff streak alive. But Isaiah Thomas could’ve handled the ball for Brooklyn and would’ve kept the ball out of the hands of Milwaukee, who were thriving off Nets’ turnovers.
Re-sign Bruce Brown: Of all the moves, this is most important. R-sign Bruce Brown! It’s that simple. The man averages 8.8 points a game, 0.9 steals, .4 blocks, 5.7 rebounds, and is 59% in field goal efficiency. He is young and reminds me of Penny Hardaway. Brown is a defensive anchor and needs to be re-signed.
Sign, then Trade, Spencer Dinwiddie: But before you sign him, waive Deandre Jordan. Dinwiddie says he expects $20 to 25 million and already has a player option for the 20211-22 season, which–per reports–he has decided to decline (for obvious reasons). So sign him and look for good trade suitors. Who might those be? Well, there’s the Bulls, the Celtics, and the Cavaliers as options. One priority is getting a solid defensive center.
