Simone Biles’s History-Making Move

The first female athlete to do it, too.

Simone Biles has proven herself to be a very successful athlete in the world of gymnastics. With 30 Olympic and World Championship gold medals, she is most likely to get her 31st Gold Medal at the 2021 Summer Olympics–especially if she pulls off what she did during her latest competition–at the U.S. Classic on Saturday.

Biles hadn’t competed for a long time due to COVID-19, but she trained throughout her time in quarantine. It paid off. At the Classic, Biles pulled off the Yurchenko Double Pike, one of the hardest moves for any gymnast to maneuver. What’s more, she is the first female athlete to pull off the move in competition.

Congratulations, Simone! You just made history and inspired a lot of little girls.
