Eric Carle Loved Baseball

Prolific author/illustrator passes away.

Recently, I had to say goodbye to one of my favorite authors, Eric Carle. Author of The Very Hungry Caterpillar. Carle passed away last Sunday from kidney failure. He would have celebrated his 92nd birthday in June.

Carle wrote several other books, including Brown Bear, What Do You See, and Papa, Get The Moon for Me.

In addition to writing and illustrating, Carle also loved baseball. Several baseball-related exhibits are on display at the Carle Museum of Illustrated Art, including a sports story, Baseball Is by Louise Borden. There are also images of great players from the Negro Leagues.

About Kadin McElwain

I was born in Kingston, New York, the second child of Monika Keiper and Matthew McElwain. At age two, I was diagnosed with autism, and I’m currently undergoing therapy to help me have a good life. I have multiple interests, including music and writing. I started writing seriously at the age of 13 by writing poems on Allpoetry.com, earning a nomination for Best Teen Poet. In high school, I went on to write scripts, articles, and stories. Now in college, my ultimate goal is to make the world a better place.
