Over 340 participants from 50+ countries participated over three days using the Tornelo Chess Platform, with all players participating through screen sharing via ZOOM.
Earlier this month, the Belarus Chess Federation and FIDE Chess Academy Belarus conducted the International Kaspersky Chess Tournament, an Open Under-16 Youth Online event. All the participants had 11 rounds of qualifying games in the Swiss system.
The categories were Boys <16 years old, Girls <16 years old, Boys <12 years old, Girls <12 years old, and Boys and Girls <8 years old. The time control for qualifying games was 5 minutes with an addition of 3 seconds for each move, starting from the first move.
Mithun Pranav scored 6 points out of 11 and got into the subsequent final matches as one of the 16 participants in the Boys/Girls <8 grouping. Pranav played Round 1 with a time control of 10 minutes + 5 seconds increment. There were two matches–one on black and one on white–both with Akyuz Pars of Turkey, and Pranav emerged victorious in both matches.
In Round 2, Pranav played two games (lack /white) with Nyugen Truong An Khang of Vietnam. The players split and went on to Armageddon tie-breaking game with a time control of 5 minutes for white and 4 minutes for black with Pranav as the white player. He won the game and proceeded to the semifinal round.
There, he played two games (one in each color) versus Modith Aaroh Mutyalapati of India. Pranav won in black and drew in white. With 1.5 points, he got a direct entry into the Finals, where he placed second against Nezhyvenko Mykhaylo from Ukraine.
