The tournament begins on April 9.
Let’s look at the top unsold players in the IPL auction.
Alex Hales: Alex Hales comes first. No one expected Hales to go unsold after his thrilling performance in the Big Bash League this year. He scored plenty and became the top scorer of the league, making 543 runs with a solid strike rate of 161.60. Hales is also quite experienced in the shortest format, playing 60 matches for England and scoring 1600 plus runs. We will have to wait and watch if the IPL teams regret not picking an aggressive opener like him. For only his base price of 1.5 crores, too.
Jason Roy: Jason Roy is one of the cleanest strikers of the limited-overs game. Many were surprised to see Roy go unsold in the 2021 IPL auction. He can give his team a quick-fire start and take them to a big total. Jason Roy has a strike rate of 144 in T20I’s for England, and he has also scored a total of 890 runs in his 38 matches. His IPL experience includes only eight matches, but it comes with a strike rate of nearly 135 and his top score being 91 not out. Roy is a destructive player when he is in the zone, and any team would have benefitted from having him at the top of the order.
Devon Conway: Devon Conway is a new name to many fans, but this Kiwi batsman is having the form of his life. He currently averages 52.3 with an amazing strike rate of 145.2 in T20I’s. He has only played 11 matches for his country, but he has started his career in the best possible way by scoring plenty of runs. He recently scored a 99*, which is his top score to date.
IPL franchises will keep an eye on these three if replacements are needed for their foreign players.
