I tried moving players around in my head, but nothing made sense other than what I have written here.
I think everyone is crazy! I don’t think there is anyway Trevor Lawrence walks away from college football this year.
It’s not that the Jacksonville Jaguars aren’t worthy of having him as a quarterback. It’s just this: What does he gain? It’s the distinction of first overall pick, and that isn’t much when considering everything else. He won a national title. Then he lost one. All of that probably makes him a little angry. And then this year, he had to watch from home or the sidelines anyway.
Nobody loses here. Zach Wilson is a top-notch quarterback. And even though Justin Fields is a different quarterback style, he seems to belong in a Jets’ uniform. Lawrence, I think, would rather have another national title, and he won’t get that chance if he enters the Draft.
Who knows who he would play for next year, but the money will be waiting for him next year as long as he stays healthy. Then he has a chance at a second college title rather than getting one, losing one, and being left out.
Lawrence wins, Jaguars win, New York Jets win.
Then, there are other picks in this Draft.
Miami is sitting there at a buffet while everyone else is ordering a meal.
That is the way I see April 29 playing out. I sat here and tried to move players around in my head, but nothing made any sense to me other than what I have written here. That’s the way I see it.
