Throwing care to the wind, with Super Bowl LV, the NFL acted like everything’s just normal. It isn’t!
On Sunday, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers won the Super Bowl. It was Tom Brady’s seventh win. The advertisements were awesome, and the halftime show was great.
But there was a big problem: The Super Bowl is going to be a Super Spreader!
And recklessness began before the kickoff. On Saturday, Tory Lanez, 50 Cent, Diplo, and Steve Aoki had Super Bowl concerts all around Florida. Few people were masked-up. There wasn’t any social distancing either. Then, there was Miley Cyrus’ performance before kickoff. There were masks, and I’ll give her props for that. But no social distancing was seen. It didn’t help that Cyrus brought out Billy Idol and Joan Jett, henceforth putting their lives in danger.
And as I looked around what looked to be a packed stadium, I found some people with masks and others not. And people didn’t seem to be socially distancing. And, then, there were Super Bowl parties all around the country (see cover photo)
This pandemic exists! There shouldn’t have been fans at the game. There shouldn’t have been the concerts the night before the game. Cyrus’ performance before kickoff shouldn’t have happened as it did.
Games everywhere have been played with few or no fans. The NFL should have followed suit.
Because it didn’t, let’s pray that many more cases and deaths don’t occur because of NFL recklessness.
